Michélle Pokrifka’s primary legal practice is in the area of family law. She focuses on family and domestic matters including divorce, equitable distribution, child custody, support, and adoption. All of which are life changing events that can be emotionally complex. With over fifteen years of experience as a family law attorney, Michélle understands both the emotional and legal aspects surrounding family matters. She believes in providing her clients with all viable options legally available to them so that they can decide which course of action is best for them.
Michélle has previous experience as staff counsel for the York County Domestic Relations Office where she represented individuals on an appointed basis. In this position she handled child support cases, prosecuted contempt cases, pursued enforcement measures and managed and litigated paternity trials. She was a previous adjunct faculty member for Harrisburg Area Community College where Michélle taught domestic relations.
In addition to her family law practice, Michélle also represents municipalities on a myriad of issues, including zoning, land use and development, and financing. She currently serves as solicitor to Glen Rock Borough in Southern York County and routinely drafts ordinances, resolutions, contracts and advises council members and elected and appointed officials and employees in matters such as open meeting laws, economic development, personnel, capacity and other matters.
She also understands the importance of staying up to date on the latest developments in state law. As new developments arise, such as the amendments to the Open Records Act, she advises her clients on how the law pertains to local government and any steps they must take to comply.
